A True Point Of Difference

Under the National Housing Accord, the Australian government set a target of building 1.2 million new, well-located homes by 2029.
Achieving this aspirational target demands faster, more affordable construction and a major shift in how the industry operates.
Pryda is committed to supporting its fabricators in adapting to this evolving landscape and helping them stand out in a competitive market.
Industry education and advocacy
Pryda is strengthening its engagement across the industry, making Pryda systems the preferred choice at every stage of the build.
“When we introduce something new, we think about the entire process of using that product,” says Adam Dawson, Pryda’s Engineering and Builder Solutions Manager.
“You never want to surprise a certifier so we’re working to prepare all stakeholders in feeling confident with the Pryda system. We’re increasingly working back to those key decision makers; the building designers, architects and engineers and trying to make Pryda the most attractive choice.”
Working to remove friction points and complexity results in fewer delays and reduced costs, effectively solving problems before they happen.

Pryda is cementing its role as a thought leader, driving change through partnerships with industry organisations and the education sector.
One recent highlight is the partnership with Master Builders Victoria.
“Master Builders grants us access to building companies that are looking to innovate,” says Adam.
“We’re able to collaborate with like-minded organisations open to new ideas. It’s not just about building more dwellings. We want to build quality homes that are comfortable and energy efficient.”

Pryda is collaborating with LearnPedia, an organisation part of Engineers Institute Australia specialising in hands-on learning for future civil and structural engineers.

Optimising design, maximising impact
In an industry historically reliant on legacy structural solutions, Pryda is redefining how builders approach roof, wall, and floor systems.
By moving beyond generic, over-engineered designs, especially those nominated separately by third-party engineers, Pryda offers tailored timber solutions through its “value engineering” service by reviewing structural solutions and identifying the most efficient way to build them.
Led by Pryda Design Solutions Manager, Jay Griggs, the service is already helping the Pryda fabricator network win major development packages, with some projects seeing cost reductions in the hundreds of thousands.
By getting more hands-on with the full structure, Jay says these major projects are developing a pipeline of work for the fabricator network, helping to keep entire factories running.
“We’re targeting high impact projects and converting builders that our fabricators haven’t dealt with before,” says Jay.
“We’re supporting our fabricator to own the entire structure by adopting the most efficient Pryda solution. We understand that time is money. We’re taking a deeper dive into the value this structural solution can bring to a builder.”
One immediate benefit for the fabricator is that Pryda can engage at any stage of the project.
“It could be from concept stage where most of the engineering takes place to when there’s already a structural solution proposed,” says Jay.
“We can also add value when the fabricator has already won the job and wants to extract more margin. The goal is to create value for the builder.”

Before: Through value engineering, this project replaced beams and rafters with scissor trusses and steel with LVL & parallel chord trusses.

After: This resulted in a 15% reduction in steel and thousands of dollars in material savings. The builder commented it was "super easy to install when there is less steel to navigate".
Through this service, Jay has made significant wins for Pryda fabricators in converting light-gauge steel projects, particularly in townhouse construction.
“We’ve been able to convert projects over to a full timber system to not only reduce the cost of materials but find solutions that will result in fewer trades on site,” says Jay.
“On a big project the builder could save up to weeks of construction time by continuing to use a timber-supplied product through a fabricator.”
Educating builders, elevating fabricators
As the requirement to produce homes rapidly intensifies, the evolution of the fabricator and their point of difference have never been more important.
To support this, Pryda pioneered the Builder Solutions role, educating builders and carpenters across the country in the benefits of choosing a Pryda fabricator.
Rob Moore, Pryda Builder Solutions Manager, has worked in the industry for more than 40 years, starting out as a chippie. With experience in the commercial construction sector and steel framing, Rob is well placed to understand the advantages of building with timber and opportunities to save time and money on site.

“What I do is just old-fashioned service, working with the builder to shape the program that suits them the best,” says Rob.
“I often have installation crews tell me they’re building 1.5 houses a day but want to increase that to 2. That’s where Pryda innovations come into place, together with value engineering. I help them understand the benefits of our factory-fitted screw systems integrated into the software, FastFixTM Internal Wall Screws, as well as minimising strapping and eliminating cyclone rods with FastFixTM Framing Screws. All of this saves precious time on site.”

Rob says the alignment with the fabricator remains key and spends a lot of his time in the factories immersing himself in their businesses.
“I’m always wearing my fabricator hat when talking to builders,” says Rob.
“I love solving problems. I enjoy understanding their pain points and where they need assistance. I’ll have a chat with their installers to study their process. I even turn out when they’re not there to do inspections and take notes. I never stop bringing in new builders.”
