Tomorrow’s World Arrived at Stapylton
01st September 2025
By FTMA Principal Partner, Multinail
On Friday 4 July, more than 200 fabricators, staff, media and industry representatives came together at Multinail’s Stapylton head office for our biggest event yet — the Tomorrow’s World Machinery Show.
The 75 x 20 metre marquee housed something truly groundbreaking: Multinail’s One Touch System. Guests walked the green carpet and enjoyed a true Multinail Aussie celebration — a smokehouse BBQ, live music, an open bar, and even a special “GlideAway” cocktail — but the real star of the night was automation in action.

As FTMA CEO Kersten Gentle put it, “It was like a reunion of the industry.”
The OneTouch System: Timber Only Touched Once

What guests saw was seven years of research and development brought to life — a fully integrated truss production system where timber is only handled once, from pick of timber to finished stack of trusses. Here’s how it works:
How it Works
- PieceGiver
Delivers timber from pre-assigned packs and feeds the PieceMaker. - PieceMaker
An automated truss saw that optimises and cuts timber members to length. - PieceTaker
Transfers and organises cut timber pieces into staging bays ready for truss production. - GlideAway
- Jigging Station: Operators assemble the truss using automatic bobbins and lasers. Joints are fastened with corrugated fasteners.
- Pressing Station: Robot picks, places and presses the joints with nail plates. The joint scanner checks accuracy and quality in real time.
- Finishing Roller
Final roller press for nail plate engagement. - Truss Stacker
Telescopic arms lift and stack completed trusses.
This automation isn’t just about efficiency — it directly addresses the challenges fabricators face every day: labour shortages, safety concerns, skilled labour loss and speed of production.

Accessible to All Truss Plants
Unlike many overseas solutions, Multinail has ensured the One Touch System is modular, scalable and affordable. From small regional plants to large-scale operations, every truss plant can adopt automation at its own pace.
The GlideAway, at half the cost of the nearest competitor, makes cutting-edge robotics accessible to truss plants of every size.
As Trent Taylor, Multinail CEO, explained:
“The One Touch System will ensure Multinail customers are at the forefront of technology. This isn’t just for large plants — we’re here to guide fabricators of every size, step by step, into automation.”
Proven Results in Action
At CQ Building Supplies in Maryborough, the first full One Touch installation is already exceeding expectations.
CEO Chris Curtis said, “We’ve halved the number of staff required. Production levels have surpassed what we thought possible — and with the GlideAway, we’re delivering jobs months ahead of schedule. This has transformed the way we do business.”

A Turning Point for the Industry
The Tomorrow’s World Machinery Show wasn’t just a showcase — it was a glimpse of where our industry is heading. Fabricators left inspired and reassured that Multinail is committed to making automation a reality across Australia.
“This system is the culmination of seven years of work, $5 million investment, and countless hours of collaboration. We’re proud to say automation is no longer out of reach — it’s here, it’s modular and it’s made for you.” – Trent Taylor
Where to From Here
The Tomorrow’s World Machinery Show was more than a demonstration — it was a turning point for our industry. We’re proud to have shown what’s possible to help fabricators make automation a reality in their businesses.
Whether it’s the One Touch System, the GlideAway, or a tailored combination of machinery, Multinail has solutions to fit plants of every size.
